Rejection Criteria

Unacceptable specimens will result in test cancellation or delay. The general causes of sample rejection are:

  • Discrepancy between specimen label barcode number and the test request form
  • Inappropriate specimen tube or container
  • Leaking or spilled specimens
  • Incorrect sample temperature transportation
  • Missing patient information (name, age, gender, clinical data)
  • Overfilled or under filled specimens
  • Any other condition, which might compromise reliable analysis or create the possibility of unreliable results (i.e., QNS, gross hemolysis, leakage, contamination …etc).
  • Saliva specimen was received instead of deep cough sputum.

In case of rejection the laboratory sends rejection form mentioning the reason of rejection to the concerned clinic or hospital through the provided emails.
